What Is Showcase?
The Underdog Showcase is our big yearly event where adult dancers of all levels hit the stage to show off what they've been working on. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about putting yourself out there, growing with your team, and celebrating everything you’ve accomplished. Over several weeks, dancers join rehearsal groups, learn a full routine in a chosen style (like heels, jazz, or hip hop), and build the confidence to perform live in front of a cheering crowd. It’s high-energy, low-pressure, and all about having fun, making memories, and proving to yourself that you can do hard things, together.
Experience the thrill of performing on stage for family, friends, and the greater Waterloo community! And all for a great cause: ticket proceeds are donated to the Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. This year, more than 20 teams of beginner dancers will take the stage to celebrate their growth and achievement! Join us! Complete beginners are always welcome.

What is Involved in Showcase Participation?
Showcase participation at Underdog includes weekly rehearsals leading up to the show, learning a choreographed routine in your chosen style, and performing on stage as part of our annual showcase. It’s a fun, supportive experience open to adult dancers of all levels, no performance experience needed! -
This year, our show will be held at the Humanities Theatre on the University of Waterloo Campus! This theatre seats 700 viewers, for the biggest show we’ve ever put on! Your family and friends will be able to purchase tickets in the month leading up to the show. It’s the most supportive, positive, and encouraging performance experience anyone could ask for.

NO! Everyone is welcome to participate. Showcase is about growth and celebrating you! You do not need dance or performance experience to join any of our open level or beginner teams. We will coach you on the choreography, and on how to perform on stage.

Showcase Support Fee + Showcase Class Fees
Showcase programs at Underdog are priced for the best value in Southwestern Ontario! Your registration includes:
15 weeks of training with our incredible choreographer teachers
Onsite dress rehearsal with staff support
Costume (dance shoes and tights not included in costuming portion of fees)
Access to video reference of the choreography
Participation in showcase on the day of the event
Access to photos and videos of the show *
Staffing of the UW theatre (ushers, sound and light, stage manager), programs, and backstage staff from Underdog
*Note: Please note that while our Volunteers do their best to capture memorable moments through photos and videos during our live events, we cannot guarantee a specific quantity or quality of footage. Access to event media will be provided when available, but by participating, you acknowledge and accept that the availability and quality of these materials may vary.
Showcase Dress Rehearsal, Final Show, Costume and Admin Support Fees:
$225 per team for 1 team
$199 per team when joining three or more teams

1 credit per 50 minute practice for credit members, or $25 per 50 minute practice (50% off for unlimited members)
Most classes have 15 practices, so you can expect 15 credits or $375 for 15 classes
