What Is Showcase?
The Underdog Showcase is our big yearly event where adult dancers of all levels hit the stage to show off what they've been working on. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about putting yourself out there, growing with your team, and celebrating everything you’ve accomplished. Over several weeks, dancers join rehearsal groups, learn a full routine in a chosen style (like heels, jazz, or hip hop), and build the confidence to perform live in front of a cheering crowd. It’s high-energy, low-pressure, and all about having fun, making memories, and proving to yourself that you can do hard things, together.
Experience the thrill of performing on stage for family, friends, and the greater Waterloo community! And all for a great cause: ticket proceeds are donated to the Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. This year, more than 20 teams of beginner dancers will take the stage to celebrate their growth and achievement! Join us! Complete beginners are always welcome.

The Underdog Showcase is more than just a performance - it’s a celebration with a purpose.
Since the beginning, our Showcase has been a fundraiser created to bring our dance community together while supporting an important cause. 100% of the net ticket proceeds are donated to Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region, helping provide support, safety, and resources for women and children in our community.
For our dancers, the Showcase is an opportunity to share their hard work, build confidence, and experience the excitement of performing on stage. For our audience, it’s a chance to celebrate their dancers while also making a positive impact beyond the theatre.
Every ticket purchased helps create change - making the Showcase not only a memorable experience for our dancers, but a meaningful contribution to the community we call home.

Being part of an Underdog Showcase team means joining a fun and supportive group of dancers as you work toward an exciting performance together. Throughout the season, you'll attend weekly rehearsals, learn a choreographed routine in your chosen style, and take the stage at our Annual Showcase.
Whether it's your first time performing or you've been on stage before, everyone is welcome. No previous performance experience is needed—just a willingness to learn, challenge yourself, and have an amazing time with your team!

We're excited to be returning to the Humanities Theatre on the University of Waterloo campus for the third year to host our Annual Showcase!
With seating for 700 guests, this beautiful venue gives our dancers the chance to share their hard work on a professional stage while celebrating with their friends, family, and the Underdog community.
Tickets will be available for purchase by family and friends during the month leading up to the show.

No! Everyone is welcome to be part of Showcase.
Our Showcase is all about growth, celebrating your journey, and giving you the opportunity to step outside your comfort zone in a supportive environment. You don’t need any previous dance or performance experience to join our Beginner or Open Level teams.
Our instructors will guide you every step of the way — from learning the choreography to building your confidence and feeling comfortable performing on stage. All you need is the willingness to learn, have fun, and be part of the Underdog community.

Showcase Joining Fee + Showcase Class Fee = Registration Fee
At Underdog, our Showcase teams are designed to give dancers an incredible performance experience while providing the training, guidance, and support they need throughout the journey.
Your registration includes:
13–15 weeks of training with our professionally trained instructors
2 onsite dress rehearsal experience with support from our team.
A professional dance costume (dance shoes and tights are not included in the costume portion of the fees)
Choreography support and video references
Participation in showcase on the day of the event
Access to photos and videos of the show *
Staffing of the UW theatre (ushers, sound and light, stage manager), programs, and backstage staff from Underdog
*Note: Please note that while our Volunteers do their best to capture memorable moments through photos and videos during our live events, we cannot guarantee a specific quantity or quality of footage. Access to event media will be provided when available, but by participating, you acknowledge and accept that the availability and quality of these materials may vary.
Showcase Joining Fee (Dress Rehearsal, Final Show, Costume and Admin Support Fees):

1 credit per 50 minute practice for credit members, or $25 per 50 minute practice (50% off for unlimited members)
Most classes have 15 practices, so you can expect 15 credits or $375 for 15 classes
**Note: Price per team may vary based on pre-scheduled practice dates. No refund or credits will be issued for any missed class.
